Unreal Engine Tech Lead (f/m/d)

Your role: As the Lead Unreal Engine Programmer, you will take strategic and operational leadership of the Programming Department while keeping a solid, hands-on understanding of Unreal Engine 5 and C++. You are responsible for shaping the technical vision, ensuring efficient workflows, and guiding a team of programmers to create high-quality Double-A games for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. Your leadership will drive innovation, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure the successful delivery of our projects in line with Aesir’s long-term goals. The kind of stuff you`ll be doing: Your day-to-day work combines leadership with technical direction: • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Programming Department, aligning goals and processes with Aesir’s corporate objectives. • Set the technical direction of our projects, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with industry best practices. • Oversee testing strategies (Unit, Smoke, Integration, Feature, and Functional Tests) to safeguard quality. • Coach, mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and innovation. • Coordinate and collaborate closely with other departments (Art, Design, Tech-Art, QA) to enable the integration of new features and enhancements. • Initiate and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and stability within the Programming Department. • Communicate proactively with the management team to ensure alignment of corporate objectives and departmental requirements. Who are we looking for: We are seeking a proven technical leader with a passion for Unreal Engine and game development. • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in games and/or software engineering, including several years in a senior or supervisory role. • Solid knowledge of C++ and experience with Unreal Engine 4/5, with the ability to set direction and guide technical discussions. • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a programming team, including setting goals, providing feedback and supporting professional growth. • Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development workflows. • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, and the ability to foster cross-departmental collaboration. • A high level of strategic thinking combined with sufficient hands-on technical skills to provide guidance and direction.
